Thanks to the beauty of the internet and the excellent filing skills of Rosy Williams, a letter has emerged written by George Osbourne, when he was just a lowly opposition MP in 2003. This letter criticises the incumbent Labour (Tony Blair's) government and their implementation of the university tuition fees whilst declaring that when the Conservatives get back into power (which they did in coalition with the Liberal Democrats in 2010) they would scrap the tuition fee totally. He even states that the fees are a "tax on learning". However, in 2010 one of the very first things the coalition government did was raise the tuition fee from £3,000 a year to £9,000 a year. Now let's give our esteemed Chancellor the benefit of the doubt shall we? Let's say his hands were tied because they were part of a coalition government. So of course when the Conservative party were able to form a majority government the first thing Mr Osbourne did was scrap the tuition fee right? Nope! Of course not that would mean he was a man of his word, a trustworthy politician who takes into account the will of the people he represents!!! Et voila!!! Another politician who doesn't give a hoot about his constituents or the future of his country, another elitist that seeks to deny those with an ability to pursue a university education the chance to because they cannot afford the fees involved. Shame on you Mr Osbourne! Shame. On. You.
