Overload!!

Sometimes there are so many things going on that I have an overload! Yesterday, for instance I heard of a seventeen year old Danish girl who used pepper spray to stop a man raping her.   He ran away and (bonus!) she is being charged with the illegal possession of pepper spray (which is covered by the firearms laws in Denmark).  You couldn't make it up! http://www.thelocal.dk/20160126/danish-teen-fought-off-her-attacker-with-pepper-spray-now-shell-face-fine Last night I watched an InfoWars.com vlog on You Tube (link below) about a Bill going through the US Senate right now that will effectively give the sitting President of the United States of America the right to declare Martial Law, not only in the USA but the whole world .    Apparently it has been worded to imply the target is Daesh but it is so ambiguous it could be applied to any sovereign nation that the sitting President deems a target!    It allows the sitting President to declare a...

Denmark - the first to start pushing the gates closed?

Yesterday (Thursday 26th January 2016) Denmark's parliament debated changes to their immigration laws.   Something that every sovereign nation has the right to do.   Whilst I appreciate that there is international law to consider, the socialist/liberal/politically correct brigade seem to feel that their point of view is the only one to consider, they do not want to look at the reality.     The migrants that are coming in their droves to Europe need to be properly vetted and IF they are asylum seekers their needs should be met.   However, it is clear that they are not all seeking refuge from dire situations.    Many of the migrants are seeking a better life in Europe, seeking to benefit from the welfare payments on offer in various countries within the Union. Denmark has every right to deter migrants from "cherry picking" countries according to what is on offer.   It is only fair that migrants who request asylum an...

The CDU and Islam (an oxymoron if ever there was one!)

I am struggling to understand why the Christian Democratic Union (Angela Merkel's party) is so keen to keep taking in migrants from the Middle East and Africa when the majority of these follow Islam, in one form or the other.    Islam is a theocracy, the law that Muslims live by is that laid down by God, the law of the land (or country that they inhabit) is second to this.   The followers of Islam do not believe in democracy, so just using this example alone they are incompatible with the CDU and Western Europe in general. The Christian Democratic Union was created after the Second World War to unite the conservative parties across Germany.   They failed to unite under the Weimar Republic after the First World War, and this subsequently lead to Hitler's rise to power, which plunged Germany into conflict again some thirty years later. The CDU were literally a "union" of conservative parties who realised that together they were a stronger political pow...

Politics are everywhere

Last year my eldest son registered to vote in the General Election in the UK.   I have always had a keen interest in politics and we have had many an enthusiastic discussion (argument) over the meal table. I felt that he should examine the four parties who would be vying for his vote and not to vote for the party that I was favouring.   Initially he was reluctant to even register to vote stating a lack of interest in politics. I explained to him that life is politics, from the taxes (open and stealth) to our health and education.    Everything is touched by politics. He watched debates and looked at manifestos online and eventually instructed his grandfather to act as his proxy and vote in accordance with his wishes. This blog aims to be a common sense approach to the political problems that occur on a daily basis.   I will rant (that is a given) but I will endeavour to give a pragmatic opinion on the stories of the day.
