Last year my eldest son registered to vote in the General Election in the UK. I have always had a keen interest in politics and we have had many an enthusiastic discussion (argument) over the meal table.
I felt that he should examine the four parties who would be vying for his vote and not to vote for the party that I was favouring. Initially he was reluctant to even register to vote stating a lack of interest in politics.
I explained to him that life is politics, from the taxes (open and stealth) to our health and education. Everything is touched by politics.
He watched debates and looked at manifestos online and eventually instructed his grandfather to act as his proxy and vote in accordance with his wishes.
This blog aims to be a common sense approach to the political problems that occur on a daily basis. I will rant (that is a given) but I will endeavour to give a pragmatic opinion on the stories of the day.
